About the Owner
Kim Korinke has a passion for art and the sea and has been creating alongside her mom, Pam, a graphic artist, since she was little. Kim and Pam Korinke have been seashore and sea glass enthusiasts, collectors, and artisans all their lives. They endeavor to create art with found seashore treasures, thus recycling and sharing them with fellow sea lovers. Kim’s medium includes Genuine Natural Frosty Sea Glass & Sea Pottery, Sea Glass marbles, dried seaweed, and sometimes empty sea shells, fossil shells/rocks, sterling, argentum & art clay silver that she makes into one-of-a-kind Art. No sea life is harmed in the making of Kim’s art.
Kim is a native Californian. From a very young age, Art, Craft, Design, and Nature have fueled her soul. She is very passionate about Art, Nature and the Sea. Kim’s been an avid beachcomber ever since childhood, of discarded empty sea shells, dried seaweed, tiny driftwood pieces, and genuine frosty sea glass & sea pottery. Jewelry quality, colorful sea glass & sea pottery dominated the most recent twenty- five (25) years. Kim values nature and sea life, and would never intentionally harm a living creature for her artistic creations. Any found discarded dried “real” specimens have either been collected by Kim, her mother, Pam, or have come from different sources that have ethically collected the sea life after it died, and sold it as a means to recycle what is left behind. Kim is both a Sea Glass Artist and a Sea Glass Collector.
Kim’s decorative Shadowbox Art (containing applied beachcombed items and mixed media assemblages) is designed and created to show a love of coastlines and the wonderful marine wildlife that lives along the shores. Cherishing our native and planet’s wildlife is also at the heart of Kim’s craft. She has been doing this for 50+ years.
Kim uses remnants washed ashore from the sea in One-of-a-kind popular Miniature Shadowbox Art called “Treasure Boxes” (i.e., Keepsake Boxes), in small standing framed art, and in addition to framed larger Shadowbox Art. Kim hopes to inspire within an admirer of her Shadowbox Art the emotions and feelings that a walk on a quiet beach (with your favorite shell collecting buddy), tide pool gazing, or looking out to sea can evoke.
